6 Myths of Digital Technology

6 Myths of Digital Technology | Education & Numérique | Scoop.it

"I cannot take credit for these 6 myths of digital technology – I’m lifting them straight from what I thought was a well known and received investigation in to the impact of digital technology on education. In this post I will be looking at an investigation undertaken by Professor Steven Higgins, ZhiMin Xiao and Maria Katsipataki from the School of Education at Durham University, published for the Education Endowment Foundation..."

Memolane. Everyblock. Google Health. As the Web matures, we're going to lose some useful (if unpopular) apps and services along the way. A sober reminder that it's not our Internet, even when it feels like it is.
Terheck's insight:

Social media are becoming our second memory, but what will happen in case they shut down ? We'll lose datas, but we might also lose a part of ourself.

Is It Okay to Be a Luddite?

Is It Okay to Be a Luddite? | Education & Numérique | Scoop.it
The 21st Century has produced a whole new kind of altogether less revolutionary luddite. These are the folks who refuse to go on Facebook, who have tried Twitter but would never use it regularly.

Mike Collins's curator insight, June 27, 2014 4:32 AM

Whatever tools / technologies are used they must create value. Without value why would people us them? Is it possible to be a luddite just because people either don't know how to use these tools to derive value for themselves - yes they need to be at least open to using the tools but I believe once they are showbn how these tools add value for an individual they'll move away from being a luddite
