In June, the FDA released a warning about the new antiobesity medications, stating it had received reports of adverse events after people self-administered semaglutide from a compounding pharmacy. The warning also states that compounding pharmacies may be selling salt forms of the active ingredient, including semaglutide sodium and semaglutide acetate, though the FDA is not aware of any basis for compounding a drug using semaglutide salts that would meet federal requirements.

The work is based on an invention by Minglin Ma of Cornell who conceived of a detachable polymer thread containing thousands of islet cells covered by a thin hydrogel covering that could be inserted into a patient's belly without inducing an immune reaction. Shapiro was already working on a diabetes skin implant with similar qualities and upon stumbling on Ma’s work had the idea of combining the two approaches. This proved very successful. “And indeed it worked! By combining the two, it really did improve the skin site for engrafting cells without the need for anti-rejection drugs. The data are very compelling,”.

Les fabricants d’insuline ont coutume d’indiquer que les flacons non ouverts d’insuline doivent être conservés au réfrigérateur à une température comprise entre 2°C et 8°C et qu’un flacon déjà ouvert ne doit pas être exposé à des températures supérieures à 25°C-30°C pendant sa durée d’utilisation qui, selon le produit, peut varier de dix jours à huit semaines. Les fabricants recommandent de se débarrasser de l’insuline sortie du réfrigérateur pendant une période spécifiée, que le flacon ait été déjà ouvert ou non et pas encore utilisé. Pour la majorité des produits, ce délai est de quatre semaines.
