Boeing said it will design and build the seven super-powered medium earth orbit satellites for SES.

Luxembourg satellite operator SES announced it has contracted Boeing Satellite Systems to build seven new satellites.

Boeing said it will design and build the super-powered medium earth orbit satellites for SES.

The satellites will be part of SES's "O3b mPOWER" satellite-based network – comprising satellites, ground infrastructure and software intelligence – which it said will launch in 2021.

"The SES O3b mPOWER system opens a new era of connectivity, fundamentally transforming the role and capabilities of satellites," said Karim Michel Sabbagh, President and CEO at SES.

SES a choisi Boeing pour le développement des activités de sa filiale O3B, selon La Tribune. Un changement stratégique qui doit être officialisé aujourd’hui.

Selon les informations diffusées dans La Tribune, SES serait sur le point d’annoncer un changement majeur dans le développement de la constellation de O3B, sa filiale dédiée à la connectivité par satellite sur des marchés en développement et des régions souffrant d’une connexion internet lente.

Le géant luxembourgeois des satellites a convié la presse ce lundi à Paris pour une conférence de presse estampillée de son logo, ainsi que celui de Boeing. L’annonce se déroulera dans le cadre du sommet spatial organisé par Euroconsult.
