The Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy, Chamber of Trade, Chamber of Commerce and Luxinnovation today presented a digitalisation programme for SMEs.

On 18 January 2018, the Ministry of the Economy, the Chambers of Trade and Commerce and the national innovation promotion agency Luxinnovation presented a digitalisation programme to advance the digital transition of small and medium-sized enterprises and to enable them to make the best use of the possibilities offered by digital technology.

Within this programme, the Chamber of Trade with its "eHandwierk" service and the Chamber of Commerce with its "Go Digital" team each propose an initiative to make companies aware of the challenges of digitalisation and to inform, guide and advise them in their efforts to this end. The expert diagnostic phase and the subsequent implementation phase are proposed in collaboration with Luxinnovation. In these two stages, the professional chambers rely on the "Fit 4 Digital" service offer developed by Luxinnovation to help SMEs take advantage of digital technologies.

During their digitisation process, companies can benefit from various financial assistance from the Ministry of the Economy, including the assumption of diagnostic costs up to €5,000. An information sheet on assistance for SMEs can be consulted on Guichet.lu.

Dans le cadre de l'adaptation du marché unique à l'évolution des technologies numériques (Digital Single Market), SecurityMadeIn.Lu, la Représentation de la Commission européenne au Luxembourg, la Chambre de Commerce et son Enterprise Europe Network et la House of Training ont l'honneur de vous inviter à la 1ère édition de leur journée#Cybersecurity4Success qui se déroulera le 3 octobre prochain.

Le marché unique européen se met en place à grande vitesse. Cela représente une grande opportunité pour l'économie et requiert une bonne préparation de tous les acterus concernés.

Pour les PME, cela signifie de s'outiller de manière adéquate pour rester compétitif, de savoir protéger les données clients, leur intégrité et leur disponibilité et de garantir une formation continue de son personnel.

Cet événement, qui s'inscrit dans l'initiative du Gouvernement "Digital Lëtzebuerg", est organisé à l'occasion du Mois Européen de la CyberSécurité (ECSM) avec le soutien de ENISA (European Union Agency for Network and Information Security) et la SME Week soutenus par la Commission européenne.

Francine Closener, Luxembourg's Economy State Secretary, on Thursday presented her government's plans to increase public support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The government prepared a draft bill to reform the SME support regime, looking to make it easier for SMEs to access investment and help make the companies more competitive.

Small companies are a major economic force in Luxembourg, with close to 32,000 SMEs employing some 210,000 people, representing more than 50% of domestic employment.

SMEs have also created more than 30,000 jobs over the past decade and are responsible for the professional training of many young people coming into the work force.

The draft SME bill is part of the government's strategy to diversify the country's economy.
