University climbs higher in international rankings - University of Luxembourg I Uni.lu

University climbs higher in international rankings - University of Luxembourg I Uni.lu | Luxembourg (Europe) | Scoop.it

The University climbed 27 places in this year’s QS World University Rankings 2025, a major jump from the 2024 ranking. Uni.lu now occupies the 355th position, out of more than 1,500 universities included in the ranking, and is among the top 24% worldwide.

Decisive scores that weighed in this significant progression include the University’s faculty-student ratio, employment outcomes and international research network. Indeed, the University occupies 1,500 academic staff for 7,500 students, which allows for personalised teaching and small-numbered classes. A recent graduate survey showed that nearly 60% of master students were employed or self-employed, while more than 50% of alumni decide to stay in Luxembourg after their studies.

This spring brought good news, as the University’s efforts in education and research quality were rewarded. Notably, Uni.lu jumped up four positions in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2024, from 24th to 20th position.

University launches Luxembourg Centre for School Development

University launches Luxembourg Centre for School Development | Luxembourg (Europe) | Scoop.it
On 2 June 2016, the Minister of Education Claude Meisch, University President Rainer Klump and the Dean of the “Faculté des Lettres, des Sciences humaines, des Arts et des Sciences et de l’Éducation” (Faculty) of the University Georg Mein have signed a convention to establish the Luxembourg Centre for School Development at the University (LuCS).

The core mission of the LuCS is to advance and coordinate the contractual and applied research of the Faculty within the educational field in Luxembourg.

Based on a systematic empirical approach, the LuCS will also help to analyse and facilitate the implementation of a wide range of activities contributing to the improvement of the primary and secondary school sector and its outcomes within the Luxembourgish school system. It will develop science-based solutions that respond to the needs of educators, administrators and the public alike. Together with the different national programme commissions, the centre will coordinate the further development of the school curricula.

Blockchain in Luxembourg: Meet the Man Behind Hyperledger | #UNILuxembourg #DigitalLuxembourg #ICT

Blockchain in Luxembourg: Meet the Man Behind Hyperledger | #UNILuxembourg #DigitalLuxembourg #ICT | Luxembourg (Europe) | Scoop.it

We’re positively beaming. By becoming associate members of Hyperledger, an open-source collaborative consortium dedicated to enhancing Blockchain technology, we’ve effectively laid a milestone. Indeed, the University of Luxembourg is the first (and only university, yet!) to join this international community of innovators.

“Blockchain continues to gain traction with its potential to impact global businesses by increasing efficiency and solving problems associated with transparency and information sharing,” says Brian Behlendorf, Executive Director, Hyperledger. “At Hyperledger, we're seeing this firsthand as more and more diverse organisations across industry sectors like the University of Luxembourg invest their energy and resources in understanding how blockchain technology can strengthen their own business processes."

Hosted at the Linux Foundation, Hyperledger is an open-source, not-for-profit community accelerating the development and adoption of business blockchain technologies. The Hyperledger consortium already includes leading companies such as IBM, Airbus, SAP, Fujitsu, Deutsche Börse, and over 80 additional members.

SnT researchers are a driving force of the FinTech revolution in Luxembourg. And our partnership with Hyperledger hints that we’re onto something. SnT director Björn Ottersten confirms:
